Another PLSO correct weekend

What can I say...? Some weekends can be talked up to sound sweeter than they really are; Others can never be accurately described, no matter how you try. This past weekend was an adventure that falls in the latter category. Mike and I decided to go climb at Tahquitz east of LA. And although our trad climbing skills left something to be desired, we put up a fight like the best of them. This being my first multi-pitch trad lead (better yet, my first multi-pitch trad climb) and Mike's 4th time climbing ever, we settled on a 5.Easy. Here's the part that words won't effectively explain the awesomeness of the weekend: It was freaking sick nast sweet. In a vain attempt to capture some of the weekend here is a summary-
-45 min approach hike up 45 degree steep ass mountain (and we're sea level wienies now...)
-wait another hour for a couple in front of us to start climbing, realize they are in over their heads and rap back to safety (an encouraging beginning for us, to watch two other people say "no thanks go ahead guys")
-start the climb and the very first move happened to be top 10 hardest moves on the entire climb. Now, I'm thinking what have I got us into
-climb first pitch, minor set back #1- Mike takes 20 minutes to dislodge a stopper
-climb, climb, climb, climb. Up 5 pitches of orgasmic rock shredding.
-minor set back #17- rope gets stuck and I have to rap down over a scary overhang to get it unstuck. "Welp Mike, I may never see you again..."
-Friction descent route, ummm where exactly is the descent?
-hike back to the parking lot, where My dad and Leah have been waiting for us for 3 hours beyond our assumed return time (Hey Mike, in Missiles we call it ETA).

Sweet weekend

Good times, great friends...

Last weekend we headed south of the border (the Santa Maria/L.A. border that is) to visit Colin's lovely family. It was a great weekend full of climbing, singing, eating, Mother's Day celebrating, and what weekend would be complete without a nice game of matchmaker. Yes, its true, the infamous Mike Beeson has been pushing beads (a.k.a. using his cell phone) with Colin's sister all week, which brings new meaning to the adage "I think your sister is HOT!" Honestly, that's all I have to say about that...until next time...Adieu!

Dollar Bill Hands

Random Ramblings:
Bonus time is a phrase coined by my good friend Mike Beeson (yes the same Mike Beeson from Miss Sloan). It describes the moments superseding an awesome day; a day so awesome that no matter what happens after the said awesomeness, the day will remain sweet. This is what we consider bonus time. For instance, a successful day of climbing with good friends, scrumptious food, nice weather, and perhaps an "oh herow" here and there is the sort of day that would render bonus time. Well, this past weekend, Mike and I ventured up to SLO to go climbing on sunday. We met up with some rather friendly, upbeat climbers and had a wickedly sweet afternoon (and a plethora of "herows"). Bonus time invariably ensued. Later, Mike very observantly noted that his hands smelled of chalk, dirt, pizza (from the post climbing meal), and strawberries. The peculiar odor was a kind of musty old metallic smell, reminiscent of a bag of pennies or an old dollar bill. Hence the name dollar bill hands. And since he achieved the dollar bill hand fragrance from such a scrumtralescent day, dollar bill hands are now proportionate to bonus time. The End.
