Stranger in the night (well, actually mid-afternoon or so...)

This blog is somewhat belated since I am writing about events that took place two weekends ago. I have been waiting patiently for a friend of ours to send us pictures from the climbing trip we took to Morro Bay. After two weeks and several "stalker" e-mails she finally sent me the pics and I can now recount the wonderful adventure that was that weekend. We (Colin, my wife and I, Mike and Missy) all took a trip up to Morro Bay to check out some climbing we heard was up the way. Morro Bay is only about 45 minutes away from where I live, but the whole weekend had a very road-trip-esque feeling.

Originally, we had intended on camping out on Saturday night, but much to our chagrin all the available "camp" sites were occupied by monstrous RVs and camper trailers. We even saw a man walking his dog from a motorized scooter. We were disappointed to say the least, having been expecting a wonderful night under the stars. To ease our weary minds we decided to climb away our troubles and figure out the sleeping arrangements later. We hiked to our initial destination...a wonderful rock formation with about six premium routes. Whilst we were there we happened to meet a fellow climber named Matthew and we explained our camping predicament to him in hopes he would tell us another place to pitch tent. Instead, much to our surprise, we were invited to stay at his house for the night. Not wanting to seem like the desperate type, we waited five minutes and told him we would accept his offer.

It turned out to be one of the best decisions we've made in our climbing careers. The chap turned out to be an awesome guy and we ended up spending the next day climbing with him and enjoying ourselves far more than any man should. We were also officially introduced to the wonderful world of Slacklining. Overall, a very successful weekend and one we hope to replicate in the very near future. On a parting note, I am always amazed at how God provides and opens doors for us. Here is a picture my beautiful wife climbing her first sport route and quite well I must say. Aufwiedersehen.
