(Not so) Dreadful break...

This Thanksgiving break has been rather wonderful if I say so myself. Aside from relaxing and eating like the fat kid I am, I have done nothing productive (which is everything a good break should be). However, my blessing is also my curse, because by doing absoulutely nothing this week I inadvertantly included climbing. Unfortunately, this is a situation I cannot rectify due to the fact Colin and I promised (crossed our hearts hoped to die) that neither of us would touch a rocky object (not even if a rabid cougar were attacking us and the only hope at survival is a sharp stone at our feet) for this entire break. Colin is currently indisposed in PA with family so at least the temptation to climb is minimal for both of us. Happy Thanksgiving!

Better than ever...

Today was possibly the best climbing session Colin and I have had yet. Its as if everyday we climb it gets better and better. There's nothing finer than leaving it all on the rock and feeling like you could not have put any more effort in...you ripped hard and your aching body lets you know it. We hit Bishop for the second time in two weeks (not enough, I know, but we have to pay bills somehow). As always, my wife came along and held down base camp for us and got into a picture taking frenzy (with some pretty sweet shots coming to fruition). Once again, mark one down for the good guys...

Stomping Grounds

Every aspiring climber needs a place to call home. Boulder climbers have Flagstaff, Fort Collins kids have Horse Tooth, Wyoming has Vedawoo, Riverside has J-tree, and even Alabama has Horse Pens 40. Well, being in the Air Force, Quick Squeeze (Rober) and I have become climbing orphans. Our blessing has similarly become our curse. Moving every 2 years allows us to sample a multitude of awesome climbing areas but will also inevitably render us homeless-- homeless in the sense that we have no turf to call our own. Luckily Rober and I have just recently stumbled upon Bishop Peak and the SLO Op climbing gym. After about 3 weeks of restless searching we have finally found a place to climb (insert sigh of relief). These two locations will undoubtedly be our temporary stomping grounds while we are stationed in Cali. Predictably, many of our field trips will be staged in this area so I will leave you with “More to come…”

The Wall...

For all of you who are unfamiliar with "the Wall" it is the home-made climbing facility Colin built to aid us in our dreams of conquering some of the world's sickest routes (be they bouldering problems or "5.infinity" climbs). Here is an accompanying photo of "the Wall". Enjoy...

Rober Sends!!

The good man, Bobby, sent his beastly project on the "Wall." Finishing this problem was a long time coming for Big Bauch. Stay tuned for our next field trip.
